I am alives
Here's an XNA game I'm working on  It's about 50% done or so, I should have a playable demo up on my website (www.j1n.org) soon. the art is by me lol, I think its kinda cute in a crappy way. I've updated my website too and have gone with word press. Here is a flash version of a game I made with art by my girlfriend. I have also been working on a few other projects in C++ and DirectX etc. I am still jobless of course, its pretty hard getting a job in this economy, even when I already have 2 years of experience in the game industry. The first few hours of Scribblenauts
So of course instead of actually playing the game, I just wrote in a bunch of things and pitted them against each other in a death match. Here is what I've learned: -God Kills Cthulu -God Kills (almost anything) -Vampires Kill God (instant kill he turns god into a Ghoul) -Death Kills God -Priest is Invincible to Death's Scythe (and thus Death) -Rabbi is not Invicible to Death's Scythe -Ghost is Invincible to everything except if you give someone a Proton Pack (who ya gonna call?) -Vampires run in fear from Vampire Hunters/Ghost Hunters and are instant killed by them -Soldiers will shoot Terrorists on sight -God will use Shotguns or other weapons if given to him -Ghouls and Zombies are two very different things, yet a Red Panda and a Fox are the exact same thing -Tigers will kill just about anything including Vampires, in fact Tigers seem to be the most broken of all the summonable beings, except for Ghosts. Tigers however can be killed, and that is their weakness. I have yet to do more testing on Tigers. The philosophical implications of these outcomes are very deserving of some discussion. 5th Cell may have opened up a whole new bag of theological and philosophical discussion. The fact God is killable is a very interesting discussion. What is God? can we even form "God" into a tangible being? In my opinion no God cannot be a tangible being, God is infinite, there for it is something abstract like the word "love", thats why God is Love, and if you have love in your life, something or someone you love, then you have God in your life! However Scribblenauts has taken this theory and completely thrown it out the window, and has defined God as someone you can Summon who appears as a white haired bearded man who will protect you from anything so long as you do not attack him. However God can die, he is mortal and can be destroyed. Philosophically what does this mean? If God can be destroyed that means he must be tangible. If God can be destroyed, that means he was created. Then who created him? Of course WE DID, when we flipped out the DS stylus and typed in God's name. And POOF he appeared. Created by our own imagination. This would then be the forerunner for all Philosophical Atheists to use as their driving campaign, and every Christian parent out there for them to ban Scribblenauts from their children! However anything that gets destroyed in Scribblenauts can simply be recreated, so God isn't really dead is he? No, we can simply resummon him back into the world. Therefore he must exist in our minds! which then TRUMPS the idea that god was created and tangible, because an idea is something that is not tangible, and has no way of being destroyed. Further inspection, why does God turn into a Ghoul when afflicted by a Vampire? This would impose that God is a man, a human man, as only humans can be turned into Ghouls. Then what we have summoned perhaps is not God at all? No I say instead it is a physical manifestation of God in a human body form, which is the best representation that 5th Cell Developers could provide of what an idea of "God" truly is. Next let us look upon summoning Death, how is it Death can kill God with his Scythe but he cannot kill a Priest? What protects the Priest? Surely not his faith as God was killed by the same Scythe. Even more racially disturbing is the fact a Rabbi will be killed by a Death, but a Priest will not. Does this mean if you are Jewish, you are doomed to oblivion and death and will never go to heaven for accepting Jesus Christ? Perhaps this is a symbolization of how through your faith you can escape death? Next we move onto Cthulu, Cthulu is a bitch, you can take him out with some shotguns, or machine guns, etc. Terrorists oddly enough are not middle eastern or etc. if anything they look like a redneck running around, is this the developer's way of saying the real terrorists are the ignorant citizens of America? Ghosts are very unfair, however picking up a proton gun will neutralize a ghost after a few shots. Finally Tigers, are Tigers the true Gods of this Universe? batman arkham asylum game of the year?
So I picked up the new batman game Arkham Asylum for PS3, (cause it has the 'play as the joker' challenge rooms) while the game looks better on the 360, the PS3 has more content for it (cheap way to get ps3 sales...) of course if I had waited and gotten it for PC it would look the best of course... lol but still no extra content! anyway, this game is a mega hit with me. Its got all the original VO from the cartoon series (hamil as the joker, etc.) Its very dark and gritty, people die, dark colors, true to the original content. If you are a fan of batman you should own this game. Even if you aren't a fan, its still a great game. the story is kept moving forward at a great pace. and the interactions and dialog are superb. sneaking around and taking people out silently with gadgets/etc. is the most fun part of this game, it makes you change your thinking about situations you are in, and really puts you in the shoes of the dark knight. the hand to hand combat could be better it suffers from the "prince of persia" dilemma where you can press one button and the game will play itself (effectively square button mashing will win you in most situations). However the game will throw you new enemies so that you can't always rely on mashing square, and again makes you change your thinking in combat as well as outside of combat. Traversing through the game also has you constantly changing your thinking is very fun, they give you multiple ways to access areas and fun gadgets to explore the asylum. the next greatest part of the game of course is the riddler trophies, and the final mystery that you have to deduce on your own through clues (or with the help of the internet) again it really takes interesting gameplay and makes you think and use your brain and put you in the shoes of batman dubbed the "world's greatest detective" The Challenge rooms editions is GREAT it means after beating the game there is more game to be played, and is certainly worthy of the 60 dollar purchase price. the only thing missing of course is multiplayer, but how would that even work? you play as robin? lol please. Overall the game is an A+, and possible game of the year, even though we have a lot of "year" left I cannot really think of a game this year that has "wow"'d me, even Resident Evil 5 wasn't that level. However there are still big bombs coming out for christmas, Lost Planet 2, Murasama demon blade on wii, God of War 3?, Uncharted 2 (uncharted 2 will probably be GOTY), and more I guess if you want no spoilers dont read past this point ( spoilers )sorry for bad grammar and spelling and capitalizations im lazy its late. | | Thursday, August 27th, 2009 | | 11:40 pm |

Update
Work - Been working my ass off pretty much 12-16 hour days every day for the last year, and even last week I did one 20+ hour work day. Hopefully it all pays off I guess, I will get to announce what I'm working on after San Diego Comic Con. In other news Sandy Beach is still in the top 20! Games - Got Blazblue, V13 (More Broken than Sagat) is too beast, I love playing as her and just mashing D and getting LASER SWORDS. Beat Ghostbusters, playing Prototype if you wanna get beat on Xbox 360 Blazblue my username is Koreagle Movies - Transformer 2 aka the Anti Obama film, Why? because who appointed that dick-hole guy the overseer of the transformers and he then let out the locations of megatron and the all spark shard? President Obama did! so even though it was a plot device, President Obama was almost responsible in Transformers 2 for the destruction of the entire planet! lol. Also that movie didn't know what it wanted to be, a romantic comedy? an Indana Jones Adventure movie?, a War Movie?, a CG movie? fuck pick a genre! Perfect for today's ADD audience. E3 Up Flower and More
So I wont make it to E3 this year oh well. Meanwhile Microsoft had their Press Conference at E3 today. Talk about Game Over Sony. -Facebook Integration (lol) uneeded but cool. -Twitter Integration (lol) -On Demand Movies, stored online you can watch instantly cool -Cable TV, very cool -New Metal Gear, cool (expected) -New Games, Alan Wake looks great, Splinter Cell looks cool, Halo etc. ha But the biggest news of all Project Natal: This is absolutely Game Over for Sony if this thing works as good as their demos showed off and their "Target Video" Natal, the way it works basically is it seems is a Z-camera and a microphone to do -Body Motion recognition -Voice Recognition -Facial Feature Recognition They showed off some demo videos: a fighting game a racing game a trivia game a sports game (soccer/etc.) live stage demonstration of a dodgeball type game Peter Molynuex and Lionhead Studios showed off a AI boy interaction with a girl, and the AI boy would read the girl's facial features and ask why she's sad, and other things, (CREEPY) and other mini games. This is really cool shit! Imagine the possibilities for Adventure games! Walking around in a 3d world with your own legs, and opening doors with your own arms! Or a Street Fighter game where YOU ARE RYU, and you have to do the Hadouken Motions. Finally fat people can no longer compete in Fighting Games! lol UP: Saw up, very very very good movie, some really sad parts, if I had tear ducts I would have cried. Heather broke down and cried at one scene. Man I love Doug the Dog character so much. So for those its TLDR, Basically in 2001 George Broussard came up with a plan to "NEVER" release Duke Nukem Forever, and it would basically serve as a never ending "Hype" machine which would promote Epic's new UE3 Engine, which is the reason why most developers are using UE3 today, and that their "Success" was completely planned, and that DNF as a game that never comes out would serve the business much better than if the game did get finished. In this blog Charlie Wiederhold doesn't want to sign this business contract of making Duke Nukem Forever "Forever" developed, and Mark Rein has him held down by Cliffy B and Tim Sweeny while they break off a leg of a chair and threaten his life and say that "this is how real business is done" Part of me thinks this whole thing is bullshit and is completely fabricated/scripted story to serve only the hype machine even more, one of our artists was at that E3 with Levelord, and he (our artist) claims it didn't happen. (of course who can say since it was a super secret meeting!) Beat Mad World. Great game. Not as hard as God Hand. Platinum Games (Clover Studios) delivers again. The Black and White was fun. The Black Baron should be cosplayed lol. I think if I did actually cosplay I would cosplay Jack, man's got a chainsaw on his hand. The Soundtrack is so damn good I just listen to it all the time in the car at work wherever. |
